Cleaning the inside, not the face

There are two different jobs that both get called gutter cleaning. One washes the outside of the gutter so it matches the clean fascia above it, and that is part of a house wash. The other empties the trough so water can actually reach the downspout. Gutter cleaning here means the second one.

We take the debris out, flush the trough, and check every downspout for flow before we leave. A gutter that is clean at the top and blocked at the elbow is still a gutter that overflows.

What a blocked gutter costs

Water that cannot leave the trough goes over the edge, down the wall, and into the ground at the foundation. In Indiana it also freezes in the trough, and the ice pushes the gutter off its hangers. Fascia rot, siding stains and a wet basement corner are all cheaper to prevent than to repair.

Guards do not mean never

Gutter guards keep the leaves out and let the fine grit and shingle granules through, and that sediment builds a hard layer in the bottom of the trough. Guarded gutters need attention less often, not never, and we clean off the guards themselves at the same time.

Questions about gutter cleaning

I have gutter guards. Do I still need this?

Less often, not never. Guards keep leaves out and let fine grit and shingle granules through, and that sediment builds a hard layer in the bottom of the trough. We clean off the guards at the same time.

Every time, before we leave. A gutter that is clean at the top and blocked at the elbow is still a gutter that overflows.

How much does pressure washing cost in Central Indiana?

A typical 2,500 square foot house wash runs $450 to $550, and most land around $500. Our minimum service charge is $250 for most standalone jobs. Smaller homes run $250 – $399 and larger ones $500 – $900+. Concrete is $200 – $450 for 400 to 800 square feet, roof cleaning $600 – $1,500+, decks $200 – $500, fences $250 – $700+ and windows $100 – $300+ as an add on. Those are budget ranges rather than final quotes, because two houses that look alike from the road can be an hour apart in labor.

If I book more than one service, do the prices add together?

No, and that is worth knowing before you compare. The individual prices are not meant to be stacked. Once the $250 minimum is met on a visit, windows, concrete, gutters and other services can often be added for less than we would charge to come out for that one service on its own, because the setup only happens once. The estimate shows each line so you can see the difference.

Do I need to be home for the service?

For most exterior work, no. We need access to the areas being cleaned and to an outside water connection. We will confirm that with you before the day.
